Our Story
Fisch Berger Restaurant was founded in 1895, passed down through generations after Franz Berger inherited the riverside restaurant from his grandmother. Known throughout Vienna for its exceptional fish dishes and welcoming spirit, it quickly became a beloved gathering place for locals and travelers alike.
In the 1990s, a major riverbed restoration project reshaped the area. The original building gave way to a modern new structure — preserving the legacy while embracing the future. For many years, it continued to operate solely as a restaurant, maintaining its reputation for fresh, heartfelt cuisine.
In 2017, a new chapter began. Comfortable guest rooms were added, transforming Fisch Berger into a full-fledged riverside retreat. Today, River Lodge Hotel & Restaurant proudly carries forward that legacy — blending tradition with comfort, and hospitality with heritage.
